The legal guideline on antique is that is 100 years old however the term does get abused and is often used to refer to anything old. Vintage is somewhere between antique and new but how new is not exactly defined. Personally I don’t call anything vintage unless it is at least 30 years old. Estate is anything second hand whatever the age.
Antique Jewelry simply refers to its age – Officially over 100 years, but is fudged a bit by pretty much everyone. Estate Jewelry usually means pre-owned. Officially it means that the owner is dead, but again the definition is fudged a lot. It definitely does not mean costume.
So, Estate might be antique, but antique is probably Estate.
Vintage is anything from 1920′s to 1980′s
Antique is anything from 1920′s and below, like 1800′s and under
Estate is usually fake, meaning costume jewelry or old but not valuable, more like collectible for the style only and not worth anything monetary wise.
