Gold Wedding Band Hallmarks

Question: I have found a gold wedding band which has a symbol I have never seen.

It has a deeply cut blackened background which is shaped like an open tablet with legs for lack of better term to describe, straight on both sides with two legs, rounded on the top.

Inside from left to right there is a slightly slanted star, then a small capital “B”, then a larger “K”.

There is no other marking as to karat weight on this ring.

Is this a manufacturer’s mark, and if so for what manufacturer?  How old?

Thanks!

Answer: G’day and many thanks for your query

I’m sorry to say I can’t see this item so can’t help. The marks are unfamiliar to me as they are not full British or European marks which I recognize from your description.

I also think you mean “Table” - not “Tablet”? But I could be wrong.

It is strange there are no gold QUALITY marks ie: 14ct or 18K etc and that is pretty standard throughout the world.

I would suggest you see your local FRIENDLY gemologist Valuer to appraise the item. At least then you will have written documentation to prove what it it.

Alternatively, you might like to browse eBay or even the Antique Jewelry Fair website at: http://www.antique-jewelry-fair.com/ for similar items.

Hope this helps…
